Every once in a while, I get really surprised and excited by some of the events in Dubai, especially if they involve groovy music , great art and a dash of fashion.
Last week , The Mine Art Gallery in Al Quoz was host to a creative collaboration between Bloomingdales and Rolling Stone Magazine: an evening that celebrated fashion and New York street artists Pose and Revok.
We loved the psychedelic abstractions of Revok made of woven painted strips and dashes of neon paint and were transported to a comic book feel world by Pose.
Bloomingdales showcased their latest street wear collection and the must have sneakers of the year. Whether studded , sparkly or neon coloured , it was impossible not to rethink those black and white sneakers that we all have at the back of our closets.
We took a peak at the upper deck of the gallery where an exhibition by Iranian artist Arash Nazari was on display : playing card motifs were revisited with a Middle Eastern twist and a huge suspended sculpture reminiscent of a mountainous terrain took over most of the exhibition space.
As for our outfit choice, we stuck to a monochrome palette to truly appreciate the colourful artwork on display : a bejewelled muscle tank top by 3.1 Phillip Lim, black skorts by Zara , a black blazer by Massimo Dutti and a black and white clutch we were given as a freebie on a recent shopping trips Saks 5th Avenue in New York. As for shoes we opted for sensible yet sexy Valentino Rockstud shoes.
