It was a hot summer’s day in London, temperatures reached 27 degrees and Andy Murray made history on 07/07/13 by winning the Wimbledon single men’s title after 77 long embarrassing years for Brits. Blame it on the rainy weather and the challenges of playing on wet grass, but British kids can not possibly fall in love with tennis in such conditions, unlike their Spanish counterparts who grow up loving the sport, while their parents sunbathe on the beaches of Marbella.
Whether we like Andy’s less than likeable character or not, it was a proud British moment when he beat Number 1 Novak Jokovich. As any self-respecting Londoner, we decided to spend this rare sunny day outdoors, hopping from The Duke of York square to Chelsea Farmers’ market, desperately looking for a couple of seats to watch the match outdoors. We wore a sunny outfit of floral tailored shorts, usually reserved for the beach, with a simple well-draped grey tank from COS , by far the best tank tops you can find on the high street or in designer boutiques.
We teamed this breezy combo with our all-time favourite rubber and leather sandals by Sergio Rossi, which we declare to be the most comfortable and versatile summer sandals of all time. Test-driven on London’s pavements and parks, these babies come in an array of colours which you might want to invest in.
And as a special 35 year birthday present, we carried the most coveted satchel and day bag of the year: the PS1 medium satchel by American design duo Proenza Schouler. it is by far one of the lightest handbags to carry around and boasts so many zippers and compartments to help you organise your life. The colours are also highly desirable, from peacock blue to Tomato red, you will be spoilt for choice.
