Spring in Dubai always brings with it a heavy calendar of social events , especially the much-awaited breath of cultural air: Art Dubai. From March 21st to 24th, art lovers will be roaming the galleries in DIFC, Al Quoz and the main exhibition at Medinat Jumeirah. The main exhibiting galleries will bring a wealth of local artists, Iranian and Chinese art that represent these fast growing nations’ artistic awakening.
Since no self-respecting Dubai resident would be seen in anything less than a carefully put-together outfit (because for some it’s about the parties more than the art itself), I thought that I’d put together a few looks that are inspired by art.
The first look is inspired by Pointillism art, the likes of Seurat and Van Gogh: I teamed this silk wrap top from Vionnet against white jeans for a blank canvas and Magenta YSL Tribute sandals. The only accessory that can be carried off is a pair of chandelier earrings by Bounkit. I’ve also recently discovered the talents of new designer Michael Van Der Ham, a genius of patchwork and print, who simply creates wearable art, you can buy his collection on Net-A-Porter.

The second look is inspired by my last trip to Barcelona and mainly by Joan Miro’s sculptures and his “Cat Encircled by the Flight of a Bird” painting: a simple silk t-shirt with cut-out detail and Miro-like print by Olivia Rubin is the perfect companion to a pair of silk harem trousers, a pink Topshop bag and blue suede shoes.

The third look is inspired by Yves Klein’s blue, a head-to-toe look in shades of blue: this colour block dress by DVF is a great transition piece from winter to spring.
