If you missed last week’s Matches Fashion trunk show in Dubai’s St Regis Hotel, do not worry because we have selected the most essential pieces which were showcased and hand-picked by Matches Fashion’s personal shoppers for Dubai and its neighbouring countries.
For anyone who was living in London 30 years ago, Matches boutique was one of the few multi-brand independent designer boutiques in residential neighbourhoods such as Richmond, Wimbledon, Marylbone and Notting Hill. The boutique was always on the edge of fashion carrying the most beautifully edited selections from new and established designers alike.
A few years ago, the company which was founded by Ruth and Tom Chapman, realised the importance of jumping on the e-commerce bandwagon and soon was able to offer over 400 designers online, rivaling some of the earlier established e-commerce websites.
Last week, Matches Fashion brought a fabulous trunk show to Dubai’s shopaholics on the occasion of its patronage of Harpers Bazaar’s 2016 best dressed list party. The trunkshow carried all of our Dubai summer essentials which were versatile enough to carry us from Kite beach to Zabeel’s Ripe market and beyond to the shores of Oman and the Maldives.
Beachwear was glamorous and fresh, whether you choose to stick to a white and blue Greek island palette by Peter Pilotto, Talitha or Etoile by Isabel Marant, or go for a tribal spirit by Lemlem (Ethiopian patterns) and Dodo Bar Or (keffiyeh prints), the collection was totally wearable and luxurious and totally in tune with Dubai’s melting pot of cultures.
Accessories were individualistic in spirit and echoed the eccentricity of London’s fashion scene, we loved Chloe’s Hudson bag with coloured tassels, Olympia Le Tan’s book clutches, Anya Hindmarch’s candy packet clutch and Aquazzura’s electric blue fringed sandals.
Evening wear was colourful and bold in striped numbers by Preen, Mary Katrantzou and Isa Arfen. If you are even considering the little black dress this season, do re-think your plans and embrace the positive and joyful energy that these pieces bring.
