Our best picks of Dima Ayad’s Butterfly launch party

One of Dubai’s quirkiest fashion boutiques Sauce, and the sweetest-smelling store I’ve ever been to in my life, hosted a party at its Dubai Mall store to launch Dima Ayad’s latest collection of evening dresses, under the Butterfly theme.

Dima’s collection had different pieces to suit different tastes, from colour-block dresses and tops in pleated fabric , perfect for packing when going on holiday and when room service can’t bring you an iron fast enough; to body-con dresses in black and nude pink, trimmed with aged-silver sequins for girls who still haven’t braved the riot of colours on show everywhere. There were also long candy-striped dresses to make you stand out from the sea of satin and Swarovski-encrusted dresses at this summer’s upcoming weddings.

But here at Style Under Fire, we fell head over heels with a bright yellow maxi dress, draped over a nude coloured sheath and defined with a black ribbon as a belt, it also comes in bright pink for those of you with an aversion to yellow, although this shade of yellow looked particularly fantastic against the models’ light skin, proof that you really don’t have to have a deep tan from the 80’s to carry off this colour.

Fashionistas , friends of the designer and Sauce’s clients flocked in like beautiful butterflies for the occasion dressed in Spring’s liveliest and sunniest colours, a real feast for the eyes.
Pastel-coloured jeans
We have a secret girl crush on Ghizlan who looked so beautiful in a bright citrus yellow dress, an awesome pair of purple Balenciaga shoes and a deep blue oversized clutch. We are still waiting for her to tell us where she got her sparkly crystal necklace from… we have got to have it!
I was very pleased to meet fashion blogger Nadya Hassan of The Fierce Diaries whose latest posts on macaroon-coloured jeans are just fantastic, check out her blog here.

I also met fashion designer and Velvet magazine journalist Hafsa Lodi who was sporting a custom-made shirt of her own, check out her cool camera case, the paparazzi look couldn’t be anymore appealing!

I was also drawn to fashion stylist Natalie Trevis of Stylephiles who I thought was wearing an expensive-looking Mary Katrantzou pair of floral trousers, I was surprised to find out that they were from Zara; we love black lace with florals and the dark pink shoes.
