SUF edits Boutique Society’s Fall 2011 collection

A Boutique Society is the antithesis of shopping in Dubai, forget about freezing malls and the now widely available and predictable designer brands. Twice a year, you can now venture out of your retail comfort zone to try some up-and-coming designers, in the intimate setting of A Boutique Society, that its founder Yasmine Behnam has personally hand-picked and edited for cool girls in Dubai, Cairo and Beirut. Think “Marques de createurs” from Paris, Scandinavia and even Russia where cool Parisian understated chic mixes with architectural pieces.

The last pop-up boutique was hosted in the garden of vintage Dubai boutique Garderobe over 3 days. Style Under Fire loved the sweet canapes and macaroons that were served to guests and the warm cocoa and coffee that just invited guests to linger on and try on as many different looks as possible. Yasmine has a particularly great eye for detail and recommending pieces to suit your style and body shape. The idea behind A Boutique Society is to create an intimate get-together of stylish women who are looking for unique and individual pieces, at pocket-friendly prices, far away from the spotlights of the sleek designer boutiques.

Style Under Fire fell in love with a Scarlet shift dress by “See U Soon” that was very much Lanvin-esque with an unexpected ruffle that went down one side. This dress would look great with a purple box clutch and nude Christian Louboutin peep-toes. Paired with huge crystal earrings or a Lanvin bejeweled necklace, it is the perfect cocktail outfit.

The second “coup de coeur” is a leather-fringed black mini-dress by Pellessimo, surprisingly figure-hugging and unbelievably light. Paired with a bright Orange or Fuschia clutch and tough gladiator shoe-boots or Purple YSL tribute sandals, you will be guaranteed to turn heads around.

There were also several office-friendly or day-time combos of leather-trimmed mini-skirts by Afterpants with cute vests, or animal-print tops with leather pencil skirts by Anika Lena Skarstrom. Jackets were constructed like sculptures with very clever and befitting openings under the armpits, genius!
