With the Big Freeze almost over and impatient dreams of a much milder March temperature, we are all itching to wear lighter colours and to succeed in creating the transitional wardrobe winter to spring. We played with proportions to make the trendy oversized chunky boxy sweater work with a more streamlined silhouette, by keeping the colour palette fresh and tone-on-tone pastel.
The key transitional wardrobe building block is a light pastel pink wool coat because it will keep you extra warm while making the transition into a spring colour palette; we picked this version from Zara as it had a fur gilet effect as well and a simple no-frills cut.
To create an elongated silhouette and avoid a heavy midriff, we layered the boxy oversized fleece Zara TRF sweater over a long silk white shirt by The Kooples and skinny Topshop ankle grazer jeans in hip-friendly New Baxter cut. The sharp knee slits and the inch of an ankle peeking over the grey suede ankle boots add a definite Spring touch to the heavier top. We found these grey suede ankle boots at C wonder, a store better known for monogrammed jewelry boxes and candles.
In terms of accessories, a Valentino Glamlock purse in Powder colour made for the perfect luxurious lift to this capsule transitional wardrobe. We lifted the fleece sweater with a crystal necklace from J Crew bought 3 years ago on a trip in Hong Kong and a stack of bracelets from Monica Vinader.
